People Are Sharing Stuff That Rich People Ruined Forever, And It's A Real Conversation-Starter

Listen, people are always opinionated about the rich. And there are plenty of things that people think rich people just straight up ruined completely.

1. "Burning Man."

2. "Lobster — the cockroaches of the sea."

3. "Oxtail — and it's only recently become in demand. It used to be poor peoples' food, the part of the cow no one wanted to eat. I'm in my 40s and remember that as a kid, for big family dinners, there was always a huge pot of oxtail stew full of meat because it was so dirt cheap. Pile your plate high and get seconds. Then it was discovered how similar it is to osso buco, but at a stupid cheap price. Supply and demand drove the price way up. I tried to look up historical prices and saw that only five years ago it was $9/pound. Now, it's around $15/pound. My big sister says she remembers buying it as a teen, and it was maybe $2/pound."

4. "The housing market."

5. "Pickup trucks. They used to be considerably cheaper and driven only by farmers."

6. "The retro games market."

7. "Thrift stores."

8. "Earth."

9. "Concerts and music festivals. I went to concerts, and big ones, with my own money in high school and college. It wasn’t cheap, but it was something kids could save up for and people just went. Food and drinks were just basic event fare. Now I’m straight up not sure how people who aren’t well off go to concerts. It wasn’t an influencer VIP event like it is now."

10. "Views. They bribe, steal, and buy property all over the world that sits on the best views on the planet. It pisses me off that there are some things I’ll never get to see because some jackass bribed a zoning guy so he could build his eighth house on yet another cliff."
