People Who've Been Working For Over 20 Years, Name Something That Used To Be Seen As "Professional" In The Workplace But Is On Its Way To Being Completely Outdated
The workplace is constantly changing, and that means the formalities and norms of professionalism at work are changing, too. Things are waaaay different than they used to be — and we don't even have to look that far back.
So I want to know if you've noticed anything that used to be seen as the "professional" way to act at work that's now on its way out and being replaced with a new way of thinking.
Maybe you've worked in retail for years, and just recently, you've noticed that the whole "no visible tattoos" thing is slowly on its way out, and your coworkers are no longer being forced to cover their arms, legs, or any other tatted part of them.
Or perhaps you've worked in an office setting most of your professional career. And when you first started, you had to wear a suit and tie or a business skirt suit. But over the years, you've seen a big shift in dress code rules. And now, you can dress much more casually and can get away with a button-up and any pants that aren't jeans.
Or maybe you've noticed that the formalities around quitting have changed drastically — especially recently — and people no longer give their two weeks, write letters of resignation, or even quit face-to-face.
